The Arena Opera Festival has been opened in 1913 with Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece "Aida", in order to celebrate the centennial his birth.

From the 27th July to 8th August Momix present their new ballet Bothanica, a show by Moses Pendleton with Peter Gabriel's soundtrack.

Carmen is an opera in four acts by Georges Bizet, on a booklet by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy drawn from the homonymous novel by Prosper Mérimée (1845). The first performance took place at the Opéra-Comique in Paris on 3rd March 1875.
