"Corot and modern art" - Landscape painters

Corot and modern art - Landscape paintersThe landscape painting is a pictorial current that has for subject perspective views of city or landscapes, keeping the closest to reality in scientific way through the use of the optic chamber. It was already known in the XVth century, but in the XVIIth century was improved and made to common use. It consists in a system of mobile lenses that project on a sheet the upside-down image of the subject. The optic chamber totally changed the way of painting of the XVIIth century: the architecture became the first object of art, losing the role of simple backdrop on which the actions of the main characters developed. The landscape painting developed above all in Venice because of its particularity and evocativeness; this favored the development of a real Venetian school that boasted the Canaletto, Franceso Guardi and Bernardo Bellotto among its great painter. They belonged to the landscape painting the so-called "caprices", or mixture and substitution of some elements from a landscape to another.
